Botulinum Toxin in Wrocław, Poland – Nowa Estetyka Medical Center

Wrinkle Removal, Bruxism Treatment, Hyperhidrosis Treatment

For a woman, her face is her calling card. By looking at it, we can learn about her character, lifestyle, and how well she takes care of her health. At the same time, she might want to keep some things private, such as her age. A “new” face can be achieved quickly with the help of botulinum toxin injections.

The remarkable properties of botulinum toxin and its effects on the skin were first noticed in 1982 when it was being used to treat strabismus. Its “unintended” effect of smoothing out forehead wrinkles was discovered during this treatment.

Botulinum Toxin Type A is a highly diluted version of the toxin produced by Clostridium botulinum. In aesthetic medicine, it has found its place in smoothing horizontal forehead wrinkles, frown lines, and correcting “crow’s feet” at the outer corners of the eyes. It is also used in treating excessive sweating and migraines.

Duration of procedure approx. 20 minutes
Post-procedure limit sun exposure (14 days)
Recovery none
Results after 2 weeks

How does botulinum toxin work?

The product temporarily inhibits the transmission of nerve signals to muscles responsible for the formation of expression wrinkles. Skin sensitivity remains unchanged, and the toxin is completely eliminated from the body after 3 to 9 months.

Safe wrinkle removal

Smoothing wrinkles with botulinum toxin is a completely safe procedure. The fine needles used for injections leave no marks on the skin. After the procedure, you can immediately return to your daily activities.

Procedure process

Botulinum toxin injections are performed only after a consultation with a doctor and confirmation that there are no contraindications that could endanger the patient’s health. The skin is degreased with an antiseptic before the procedure, and in areas of increased sensitivity, a local anesthetic is applied.

Indications for botulinum toxin treatments

  • smoothing the forehead – horizontal wrinkles, frown lines (glabellar lines)
  • expression lines above the lips (smoker’s lines)
  • nasolabial folds and “crow’s feet”
  • treatment of excessive sweating in the feet, hands, and armpits
  • elimination of gummy smile
  • bruxism treatment (reducing masseter muscle activity)
  • urinary incontinence
  • migraine treatment

Contraindications

  • pregnancy, breastfeeding
  • myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome
  • muscle weakness at the injection site
  • acute infections
  • skin diseases at the injection site
  • hypersensitivity to the toxin

When will I see the effects of botulinum toxin treatment?

The full wrinkle-smoothing effects of botulinum toxin are visible about 2 weeks after the procedure. The reduction of wrinkles lasts for 4 to 7 months, after which the body begins to form new nerve connections that gradually diminish the toxin’s effects. When the results are no longer satisfactory, the procedure can be repeated.

Skin care and post-procedure recommendations

It is recommended that patients avoid excessive UV exposure for about 2 weeks after the injection. It’s best to wait until the next day to apply makeup.

What should you avoid after botulinum toxin treatment? For several hours after the injection, avoid bending over, massaging the face, exercising (or any activities that could cause the product to move unintentionally).
