Hymenotomy in Wroclaw, Poland – Nowa Estetyka Medical Center

Hymen Incision Procedure
Hymenotomy is an aesthetic gynecological procedure that involves making an incision or completely removing a thick or rigid hymen, which makes it difficult for a woman to begin sexual intercourse. A thickened, overgrown hymen can also cause lower abdominal pain and primary amenorrhea (absence of menstruation). The incision or complete removal of the overgrown hymen is performed using a scalpel, laser, or radiofrequency.
Hymenotomy is a simple procedure performed under local anesthesia. It lasts about 20 minutes. Depending on the degree of the hymen’s fusion, it is either incised or completely removed. After the procedure, a medical certificate is issued confirming the medical rupture of the hymen.

Hymenotomy – Medical Indications

A thick, rigid hymen that, due to severe pain, prevents the initiation of sexual intercourse
Abnormal hymen structure: When the hymen has an abnormal structure, it can lead to health problems, pain, or difficulties during menstruation, blocking the flow of menstrual blood.

Preparation for the Procedure to Remove an Overgrown Hymen

A prior gynecological consultation is required, but no additional tests are necessary. During the initial visit, the doctor will assess the condition and present possible treatment methods, as well as answer any questions regarding the procedure.

If the doctor finds no contraindications and the patient agrees, the procedure can be performed immediately during the same visit.

If the perivaginal area is inflamed or infected, the procedure may be postponed until the infection is treated. Intimate area depilation is not required. However, hymenotomy is not performed during menstruation.

Hymenotomy – Postoperative Care

A follow-up visit is recommended one week after the procedure. For 2-3 weeks, there may be mild discomfort and spotting. During this time, it is advised to avoid bathing in tubs or swimming pools, not use tampons, and pay special attention to intimate hygiene after each bathroom use. Full activity can be resumed after 2-3 weeks.
