Labiaplasty in Wroclaw – Nowa Estetyka Medical Center

Labiaplasty of the Labia Minora

Labiaplasty is a surgical correction of the labia chosen by patients dissatisfied with the appearance of their intimate area, where the size and shape are largely genetically determined.

Labiaplasty involves reducing the enlargement of the labia minora, reshaping, or correcting asymmetry by removing excess tissue. At the Nowa Estetyka clinic, labiaplasty is performed using, among others, the fenestration method, which guarantees optimal aesthetic results with the restoration of a naturally looking edge and invisible scars after the procedure. Several labiaplasty techniques are available (trim, wedge), so the final method is selected individually based on the patient’s anatomy.

Using radiofrequency for labiaplasty minimizes the risk of hematomas and tissue trauma. Compared to using a scalpel or laser, radiofrequency surgery has a lower risk of bleeding during the procedure and less bruising and hematomas afterward. An additional benefit of using radiofrequency is faster and better tissue healing compared to a laser, which can damage surrounding tissue during cutting, leading to longer healing times.

Depending on the patient’s anatomy, labiaplasty may sometimes be combined with clitoral hoodoplasty, aimed at removing excess surrounding tissue. This helps maintain aesthetic proportions and improve the appearance of an enlarged or asymmetrical clitoral hood. An enlarged clitoral hood can also cause discomfort similar to that of enlarged labia, making the recommendation for surgery go beyond purely aesthetic concerns.

Labiaplasty – Indications for Surgery

Indications for labiaplasty include discomfort experienced by patients during intercourse, sports activities (horseback riding, cycling), and daily activities. Increasingly, labiaplasty for overly developed labia is performed for aesthetic reasons. Restoring the aesthetic appearance of intimate organs means regaining confidence, comfort in everyday life, and sexual well-being for many women. Indications for labiaplasty:

  • Asymmetry and changes in the shape of the labia
  • Enlargement of the labia minora
  • Dissatisfaction with the aesthetic appearance of the intimate areas
  • Discomfort, chafing, and irritation during intercourse and daily life (e.g., during exercise)
  • Difficulty maintaining hygiene in intimate areas
  • Recurring infections

Labiaplasty – Procedure

The labiaplasty procedure is preceded by a thorough medical interview and gynecological examination. During the consultation, the doctor provides a detailed description of the labiaplasty process, and the desired final correction result is agreed upon.

Labiaplasty using radiofrequency is performed under local anesthesia and lasts from 45 minutes to 3 hours. The patient does not feel pain. Excess tissue is removed, and the wounds are closed with absorbable intradermal sutures for the best aesthetic outcome.

Labiaplasty – Post-Procedure Care and Recommendations

Labiaplasty does not require hospitalization, and the patient can return home immediately after the procedure.

After the procedure, it is important to maintain intimate hygiene by using soap with mild disinfectant properties after each use of the toilet. Soft sanitary pads will help prevent chafing and irritation.

Discomfort can be relieved by taking pain relievers (pain in the perineal area subsides within a week after the procedure). It is recommended to avoid prolonged sitting or long car rides immediately after the procedure. After about 8-9 days, the first follow-up visit takes place. Although dissolvable sutures are used for better aesthetic results, they are removed during this visit.

Complete wound healing occurs within 6-8 weeks. The final result of the procedure is visible after 6 months. It is recommended to avoid intense physical activity and heavy lifting for 2 weeks after the procedure, as well as sexual abstinence for 6 weeks.

Three follow-up visits: on the 9th day after the procedure, after 6 weeks, and after 6 months.
